Origin of the Kuat Harimau brand
The Kuat Harimau brand came from Singapore. It was originally called “Tiger” and the product was a powder detergent. In 1974, the business was transferred to Malaysian hands. Local production of "Tiger" powder detergent commenced in 1977, when the present factory was completed. The tiger has always symbolised strength and great power.
The Tiger was selected to become part of its branding, while it was still a Singapore concern. The brand name was changed from "Tiger" to "Harimau" which is the Malay word for tiger to reflect the Malaysian origin of the product.
